Chief Samoset (1590 - 1653) img1 Indian statue of Chief Samoset with spear, stands approximately 28cm tall. Samoset is a famous chief of the Pemaquid Indian tribe of Powhatan Confederacy. He was very friendly towards the English Pilgrims and introduced them to the Wampanoag sachem, Massasoit. He did the first land deal in 1625 and sold another parcel of land to the English colonists in 1653. He was buried in his home town Bristol, Maine after his death.
